SIMOND
CHAMONIX MUSEUM, CRADLE OF TECHNICAL ASCENT
Simond, a history of mountaineering and climbing
- Since 1860 in Chamonix, Simond develops and manufactures equipment for climbers and mountaineers.
- The brand is first and foremost a Chamonix family heritage. Anchored at the foot of Mont Blanc, it now has a worldwide reputation.
Design and manufacturing center in Chamonix
- At the company's vast 3,000 m2 premises in La Vigie, history, passion and expertise are one and the same!
- Around a hundred people work here. Passionate and proud of their Simond heritage, they are all climbers and mountaineers, and consequently, testers.
- Carabiners, crampons and ice axes are made here. Other Simond products (tents, harnesses, climbing shoes and other mountaineering equipment) are produced elsewhere.
A history that deserved a museum in Chamonix!
- The Simond legacy is impressive: the first in the mountains, with their equipment and pioneering know-how; a museum within the building made perfect sense.
- You can visit the space that retraces the Simond epic. Find out more about the great mountaineers, the great routes, the evolution of equipment...
The Simond company is linked to the history of mountaineering.
