LA CALÈCHE
Historic restaurant in Chamonix
The museum restaurant in Chamonix: an experience not to be missed!
Decor rich in history
- Since 1946, la Calèche has probably been the most unusual restaurant in Chamonix.
- Created by the famous Pépé Luc, this extraordinary place takes you on a journey through time
- The restaurant is a veritable museum of Chamonix, where some items were even coveted by the Olympic Museum in Lausanne (the authentic 1924 hockey scoreboard).
A family history
- Four generations later, memories of the hotelier family adorn the restaurant walls.
- Objects, photos, copper pots, bobsleighs, and horse-drawn carriages capture our attention with curiosity and wonder.
A culinary journey
- La Calèche is not just an extraordinary place. It is also a very good mountain restaurant.
- The menu of Savoyard specialties and traditional French cuisine has something for everyone: it's a real treat!
- Homemade dishes reign supreme and set the tone for the quality of the flavors and local products.
To name just a few dishes, La Calèche offers:
- Essential Savoyard specialties
- Tartiflette (including a vegetarian version),
- Raclette
- Moelleux du Revard
- Fondues (including truffle fondue and even Swiss fondue or Comté fondue.
- Casseroles like the ones we loved at our grandmothers' houses and signature dishes

And of course, its unique and magical setting! 😍
What a pleasure it was to have lunch at La Calèche dressed in period costume. It transported and moved me, truly!
Especially because the first time I came to Chamonix, in 1995, it was the first restaurant where I dined.
I remember, I tasted a farçon back then.
A memory that, as you can see, remains etched in my mind 🫶🏻
So it's one of the must-do experiences in Chamonix!
