Last December, the historic Le Serac restaurant changed ownership. Curious to see the changes, I went there incognito to see if the image of a “tourist restaurant” still stuck to her skin or not. Well, ladies and gentlemen, the answer is no. It feels like home!
Come into my home …
It was a girlfriends outing. My appetite for new addresses in the valley being, I suggested that my friend go to the “new” Sérac by Isa, whose storefront and Insta photos tempted me.
No sooner had I stepped through the door than the chalet-class decor delighted my eyes: wood, imitation sheepskin throws on the seats, and a soothing deer that sits in a frame, as if it was guarding the place. But how I would love to have a chalet like this! I wanted to say to my girlfriend: welcome home!
This “welcome home” atmosphere was confirmed when we teased the server who, by the way, quickly got into our game! Good humor was in the place.
and taste homemade with fresh products!
In short, the smile, the potato, the presence of Isa and François, the bosses with great care; everything is there to feel good. Actually let’s talk about the potatoes. Savoyard specialties can be found at Sérac which, let us remember, are not labeled “tourist dishes”. My girlfriend enjoyed a crust, her sweet tooth. I looked at the other dishes on the menu and fell in love with a salmon cutlet in foil.
There is no frozen food here, everything is homemade, even the desserts like pineapple pina colada style which slipped into my throat with relish. For next time, I spotted the semi-cooked homemade foie gras, the tuna ceviche by Isa and the Magland snails.
I have a feeling that once is not enough. Like a second home, maybe I’ll leave a toothbrush there …
