English bus Chamonix
Next stop, the Index’Bus, route du Bouchet, where the English bus that you all know by now (isn’t it?), has been given a new life as a food truck! A daring conversion for this red bus, but above all a tasty one because the dishes prepared there are made with 100% local ingredients! No beans with tomato or English Jelly, but products from local producers and therefore very French. New this summer: the bus has been moved a few meters for a green terrace and a really nice atmosphere.
An extensive, delicious and local menu
What? You’re telling me that the burgers at the Index’Bus are crazy and the bread is black? Shh! Take a bite of this one, the well-named “L’Arveyron” with trout from Morzine, so you’ll say less stupid things! Can’t you see that it’s a squid ink bread specially made by the Argentière bakery, Al’Pain? Taboo, you!
Here William and Thibault select and process only exceptional products! The flagship burger, “La Yaute”, for example, is cooked on the spot with minced meat from the Val d’Arly, smoked bacon from Savoie, PDO farmhouse Reblochon cheese, onions and even ketchup and homemade pickles + salad and tomatoes for its summer version!
How to do better? Oh, I forgot, they use seasonal products such as ratatouille in the Gardener burger (homemade Mayo, Onion, Salad, Tomato, homemade ratatouille, goat).
I will not detail all their menu, but remember that everything is good! And I won’t tell you about salads. Ah ! the salads, let’s talk about them !
Daily specials and tasty salads
This winter, the Index bus team had delighted Chamoniards by distributing free pizzas during the operation smile. Overmotivated, the bus guys have expanded their menu! If you have an overdose of burgers or pizzas, know that from Monday to Friday, you can taste a good dish of the day prepared with first choice products!
I say good, but I should say excellent, because on Monday for example, we find in the bus plate the gnocchi of Cyril de la Spiga d’Oro and on Friday, to quote only these two days, a beef tartar of Abondance. Hummm, it makes my stomach gurgle!
Salads grown in Vallorcine are also on the menu, including the famous “Vallorcin”, a cheese from the farm that is a must try!
At the end of the day, everyone sits in the shelter of the food truck!
The English red bus is no longer on the side of the road to Le Bouchet but still very much open! For our greatest happiness, it has parked on the side, wheels in the grass. This new space is amazing!
Industrial” atmosphere with its metal and wood tables and chairlifts, a bit of a guinguette with its colored lights and magical when you look up to the Aiguilles de Chamonix.
From now on, we could spend all day there! In the morning, we enjoy a coffee of the Shoukâ Chamonix. At noon, we eat copiously. In the afternoon, we grant ourselves a snack.
In the early evening, order a Cockorico® cocktail or a Brasseurs Savoyards® draught at the cable car bar in the garden, and then rock out to the live music. (Don’t miss their events, follow them on Facebook)
On site or to go
The Index’Bus is now part of the “places to be”, the terminus of the gourmets who come to eat quickly and who, in the end, linger a little too long in the sun… It must be said that the place invites to relaxation!
A few drops of rain? Don’t panic, climb the few steps of the mythical bus and settle down on the floor!
Finally, you can always order to go. Delivery is free from Bossons to Tines from 6pm to 10pm! Call +33 6 41 57 95 74.
Frankly, from me to you, the Index’Bus is the obligatory stop for gastronomes eager for good local products!
